Arthur believes Bradman is the only cricketer who can be ranked higher than Kallis
Australia head coach Mickey Arthur believes that South Africa veteran all-rounder Jacques Kallis is one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played in the sport and ranks him only behind the legendary Sir Donald Bradman.
Before becoming Australia’s coach, Arthur spent five years in the same position in the Proteas camp and had the ability to watch and train Kallis.
News.com.au quoted Arthur as saying: “In my opinion he is the best cricketer the world has ever seen – outside of Don Bradman. Just look at his statistics. Don Bradman excluded, he is way above the rest of his era, and probably in any era.”
Arthur was also quick to describe Kallis as a composite of Brett Lee and Ricky Ponting.
“With Kallis, we always said you got two great players in one. Can you imagine putting Ricky Ponting and Brett Lee into the one player? That is the sort of thing you get with Jacques,” Arthur added.
