Kaneria is the latest Pakistani cricketer to be banned for match-fixing
Disgraced Pakistan leg-spin bowler Danish Kaneria’s appeal for the life ban sentence he received after being found guilty of match-fixing is scheduled to be heard in early December.
Kaneria was slapped with the life ban after an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) disciplinary panel charged him with being involved in a match-fixing scandal.
Tafazzul Rizvi, who is a legal advisor to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), noted that the board had been informed about the hearing.
Speaking about the hearing, Rizvi said: “Basically under ECB rules it will be a fresh trial and hearing in which there will be a reappraisal of witnesses and Danish can produce fresh witnesses as well.”
The PCB also banned Kaneria from playing in any domestic matches until the outcome of his hearing is announced.
