Shetty dismissed the idea of India hosting any day-night Test matches in the near future
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced that they are uninterested in the recent authorisation of day-night Test matches by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The ICC noted that the decision to play day-night Tests would be up to the two cricket boards involved in a series and added that it would be up to them to decide what time play starts and ends and what type of ball should be used.
As of right now, the ICC are experimenting the effectiveness of a pink cricket ball under the use of lights.
Cricket Australia were quick to applaud the ICC’s decision to authorise day-night Test matches, but the BCCI’s chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty did not react in the same way.
“We were the first to experiment with this and our experience was not so great, at this stage we have no such proposal,” Shetty said.
