This is the sight many Indian fans have become accustomed to seeing in the past couple of months
Former India and New Zealand head coach John Wright believes iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s run of bad form will not last much longer, and added that it is only a matter of time before he starts to dazzle the crowds once again.
Wright noted that Tendulkar was having a lot of trouble against left-armers as of late, but stated that he saw no technical errors in his shots.
Speaking exclusively to The Hindu, Wright said: “If I am not wrong, he gets bowled mostly to left-armers. I remember him getting bowled to West Indies’ Pedro Collins too a few years ago. But I don’t think there is a technical flaw or a matter of serious concern. He is good enough to overcome these challenges.”
Tendulkar has failed to score a half-century since the Indian Premier League (IPL) in May this year.
His form against New Zealand was particularly concerning since he was clean bowled three times, and to make matters worse, he only managed to make 47 runs in four innings for the Mumbai Indians during the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) in South Africa recently.
Since Tendulkar has been clean bowled in six out of his last nine innings, many cricket pundits believe his reflexes are on the decline.
However, Wright threw his support behind Tendulkar, stating that he would break this horrendous streak sooner rather than later.
“I am really optimistic of Sachin scoring a century or even a double century. I am sure he will be acutely motivated to have a go at the Englishmen and the Australians later this year,” Wright said.
