A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: I would rather walk away than be dropped, admits Ricky Ponting

Ponting is keen to make the most out of the time he has left

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting knows that his days as an international cricketer are numbered, and he admitted that he would rather walk away then being dropped from the national team by the selectors.

News.com.au quoted Ponting as saying: “I don’t think it would get to that. I’m a realist and, I’ll understand that if there’s players out there who can play the game better than me, I’ll be the first to accept it and walk away, I’m not going to let it get to the stage where the selectors drop me. I think I’ll identify the right time.”

As of right now, Ponting still believes he has a future in the Test squad, and noted that he would be solely focusing on impressing everyone with his performance in the upcoming Test series against South Africa.

“I haven’t felt that yet at all so I know it’s not the right time. I’m just going to prepare for the Brisbane test match, hopefully get a few there and see what happens,” Ponting added.
