Starc has troubled a lot of international batsmen with his brute pace and bounce
Australia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Starc has been in sublime form over the past couple of months, and is likely to have nearly all of the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams drooling at the prospect of being able to sign him for next year’s tournament.
If Starc decides to enter the IPL auction next year, he could receive one of the highest paid contracts in the tournament after having topped the wickets list in the recently concluded Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20).
Joy Bhattacharya, who pretty much assembles the Kolkata Knight Riders’ roster, announced that he was extremely impressed with Starc’s performance throughout the CLT20, and noted that he should have no problem getting signed by one of the larger franchises.
The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bhattacharya as saying: “Everyone is on the lookout for good international fast bowling because there aren’t that many brilliant ones around, Starc is a left-hander, which is always an added bonus. What happens in the IPL is a lot of Indian batsmen who wouldn’t have seen a lot of high quality international pace, and [being] left-handed makes it slightly more difficult. He has the height and bounce.”
Bhattacharya added that Starc would be a useful asset for any of the franchises since many domestic players in India are not used to the kind of swing and bounce he gets off his deliveries.
