A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Ali de Winter voices discontent at rotation policy for Australian pace bowlers

De Winter believes fitness and form should decide which pace bowlers make the team

Australia bowling coach Ali de Winter has announced that he does not like the pace bowlers rotation policy idea put forth by national selector John Inverarity, and instead believes that they should be chosen on their fitness levels and form.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted de Winter as saying: “I certainly don’t think there’s anything in place to see us rotating bowlers. Form and fitness are the two things that are pretty central to how players will or won’t get selected, if players are fit and healthy and are pulling through games quite well and recovering well there’s no reason in my mind that they should be managed out of the team.”

De Winter’s comments come just over a week before the start of the Test series against South Africa at Brisbane, which will be Australia’s biggest challenge this year since the number one Test team ranking is on the line.
