A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Abdul Razzaq fined one lakh rupees for outburst against Mohammad Hafeez

Razzaq accepted his punishment and apologised for the comments made

Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has been fined one lakh rupees (approx $1050) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for his outburst against Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez during the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20.

Despite apologising for his comments the PCB, who sent Razzaq a show cause notice last week, decided to go ahead with the fine.

Razzaq and Hafeez were made to appear before PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, whereby the all-rounder accepted his punishment and stated that he didn’t mean to say what he did, and added that it was a heat of the moment reaction.

“I accept my mistake for breaching the code of conduct,  never had any problems with Hafeez and I accept that my outburst against him was unfair. I have already apologised for it,” Razzaq said.

After Pakistan lost their semi-final match to Sri Lanka in the ICC World Twenty20, Razzaq slammed Hafeez for not picking him in the squad.

“It was Hafeez’s decision not to pick me for the semi-final, not anyone else’s, I know the team management didn’t drop me, it was Hafeez alone who didn’t want me to play,” Razzaq said upon arriving back home from Sri Lanka.

However, in his defence, Hafeez noted that the decision had been the team managements and not his.

“He [Razzaq] is our asset and has been serving Pakistan for long, I don’t want to say much about what he said about me, but I insist that the decision not to play him was taken by the team management. He is not only senior in age but also in experience. Whatever happened is in the past now. Cricket must go on. I wish the best for Razzaq and Pakistan team,” Hafeez said.
