Permaul will be looking to make the most of his debut
Uncapped Guyanese left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul has been included in the West Indies squad for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh next month.
Permaul has led the West Indies A team through 2012, and has posted up some extremely impressive performances.
Recently, Permaul had bamboozled many of the Bangladeshi batsmen as he picked up 12 wickets in two four-day matches for the West Indies High Performance Centre.
In the 45 first-class matches he has played since making his debut at 17, Permaul has snapped up 152 wickets at an average of 24.59.
West Indies will be looking for Permaul to back up star spinner Sunil Narine throughout the two-Test series.
The West Indies have also recalled Darren Bravo, who has fully recovered from a groin injury, and Kirk Edwards, who last represented the national team against England earlier in the year.
The West Indies squad includes 10 players who played against Bangladesh last year, where they were successful in beating Bangladesh in the Test and ODI series, but shockingly lost the tour-opening Twenty20 International.
In this year so far, the West Indies have only won two out of their eight Test matches, which includes their recent series win over New Zealand, while this will be Bangladesh’s first Test series of the year.
The series is scheduled to take place from November 3 to December 12, and will include two Tests, five ODIs and one Twenty20 International.
The West Indies squad for the series is as follows: Darren Sammy (capt), Denesh Ramdin (vice-capt), Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Kirk Edwards, Assad Fudadin, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Veerasammy Permaul, Kieran Powell, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels.
