A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Doug Bollinger looking to earn back his spot on Australian roster

Bollinger hopes he is given a second chance to represent Australia

Australian pace bowler Doug Bollinger has announced that he has fully recovered from an abdominal strain, which severely derailed his career, he sustained in India two years ago.

Bollinger also wants to forget about the horrendous summer he had last year, and now he is looking for a fresh start once again as South Africa come to Australia in November.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bollinger as saying: “I’d love to look back and say I had a good summer, but that didn’t happen. I’m a big man – I put my hand up and say it was horrible, and I go from there.”

Bollinger has been left out of the Australian team since the last Ashes series due to injury concerns and lack of match fitness.

During last summer, Bollinger only managed to play in two Sheffield Shield games, and now he is in a spot of bother since the young talents of Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson and Pat Cummin have occupied the pace bowling slots on the Australian roster.

“The training’s been really, really hard, but really enjoyable, I’m feeling really well and good at the moment … I think it’s the first full pre-season I’ve had in about four years. Getting all the aches and pains out – just getting my wrist right and bowling well. I’m swinging the ball at the moment, which is good,” Bollinger added.
