Sangakkara was still able to make 73 runs despite fracturing his finger
Sri Lanka wicketkeeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara will be out of action for the next four to six weeks after fracturing his finger during the third ODI against India at Colombo.
Sangakkara has been listed as doubtful for the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League, and also missed the final two ODIs against India.
The wicketkeeper batsman was not out on 23 before receiving a brute of a bouncer from India pace bowler Ashok Dinda in the 15th over of Sri Lanka’s innings.
Sangakkara battled through the pain to make another 50 runs and helped Sri Lanka post a decent score after a 121 run partnership with captain Mahela Jayawardene.
Once Sangakkara was dismissed by Dinda for 73 after being caught by Virat Kohli, he was sent to the hospital for a precautionary scan, which revealed that he had a hairline fracture on his finger.
Sangakkara’s injury will not be good news for fans of the Sri Lanka Premier League franchise Kandurata Warriors, as the wicketkeeper batsman was supposed to be their captain.
