Akhtar believes Aamir can solve Pakistan’s pace bowling woes
Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has announced that he believes disgraced and banned fast bowler Mohammad Aamir should be given a chance to return to the international cricket stage, since Pakistan are in desperate need of quick bowlers.
The Nation, quoted Akhtar as saying: “If a player repeats the same mistake again then life ban should be imposed on him, but Aamir committed a mistake for the first time and was banned by the ICC for five years. I believe as soon he completes his sentence, he should return to international arena.”
Akhtar added that the national team had many talented players, and if they all worked together as a team, winning should not be that big of a problem.
Since retiring from international cricket after the 2011 International Cricket Council (ICC) 50-over Cricket World Cup, Akhtar has started looking for talented players in the domestic leagues to groom for the challenges that await them at the international level.
Akhtar and former Pakistan captain Moin Khan are set to embark on a seven-city tour of Pakistan, where as part of Sprite Cricket Next 2012 programme, they will choose and select youngsters to be groomed for the future.
