England have proven to be a formidable force when playing on home soil
England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has branded the current squad as the most ruthless in terms of the way they approach and finish games.
England recently beat their old rivals Australia 4-0 in a five match ODI series, where the third ODI at Edgbaston was abandoned due to bad weather.
Writing in his own column in the Daily Mail after the first first four ODIs, Bresnan said: “I definitely think we’re being a bit more ruthless. Our finishing with the bat and the ball has been -exceptional over the last three one-dayers, we’ve knocked off two decent targets that could have got away from us if we had lost a load of early wickets. The Cook and Bell -partnership up top has come together very strongly, and Belly looks like he’s in the form of his life, which is laying a platform for us.”
Bresnan also credited the middle order for adding runs, whereby in the past they were struggling to find any form whatsoever.
“Below them Trotty and Ravi are doing their jobs and knocking off the runs in good time which shows we are developing that -ruthless streak, and the bowling has been spot on in my opinion,” Bresnan further wrote.
The all-rounder also explained that England’s outstanding home form has been a result of their rise through the rankings in all three formats of the game.
“We have become very strong at home and like any decent Premiership team, they say make your home your fortress. And that is what we’re trying to do in all formats, it is great to go away and succeed and that is always a challenge. But if you want to -establish yourselves and improve your rankings then you have got to look after your home form first,” Bresnan added.
