A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Kevin Pietersen fined for Twitter comments about Nick Knight

Pietersen has gotten himself in trouble in the past with comments made on Twitter

England batsman Kevin Pietersen, has been fined an undisclosed amount by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for his unacceptable comments made about former England opening batsman Nick Knight on his Twitter account.

Pietersen, currently has over 600,000 followers on the social networking site and has been fined before for comments he made.

Pietersen, made the comments about Knight during England’s first Test against the West Indies at Lord’s, where he tweeted: “Can somebody PLEASE tell me how Nick Knight has worked his way into the commentary box for Home Tests?? RIDICULOUS!!.”

The South-African born batsman, was made to attend a disciplinary hearing where ECB chief Hugh Morris and England coach Andy Flower hit him with a fine.

A statement issued by the ECB said: “The hearing considered recent comments made by Pietersen on Twitter to be prejudicial to the interests of the ECB and a breach of the England player conditions of employment in relation to clauses regarding public statements, Pietersen has been fined an undisclosed sum, part of which has been suspended for 12 months, in accordance with the terms and conditions of his England central contract.”
