IPL 2012 MATCH 14: Shaun Marsh too much for Pune to handle

Shaun Marsh’s innings was the turning point of the match

The Kings XI Punjab registered a huge win over the Pune Warriors, thanks to an outstanding batting performance by Shaun Marsh.

Marsh, who returned to the IPL after battling through an injury, gave the Punjab fans a lot to cheer about through his breathtaking innings.

Punjab captain, Adam Gilchrist won the all-important toss and selected to bowl first.

The entire Pune Warriors batting lineup failed to make an impact during their innings, and this allowed the Punjab bowling attack to dismiss them for just 115 runs.

Mithun Manhas was the lone batsman who put up a decent score for the Pune Warriors, making 31 from 28 balls, during which he hit three boundaries and a six.

Dimitri Mascarenhas, led the Punjab bowling attack with a brilliant five wicket haul, while Harmeet Singh picked up two wickets and Piyush Chawla chipped in with a wicket of his own.

Facing a rather simple target of 116 to win, the Punjab batsmen wasted no time in getting the job done as quickly as possible.

Punjab captain, Adam Gilchrist and Piyush Chawla both made 21 runs for the Kings XI, but the star of the show was Shaun Marsh, who cracked 64 runs off 54 deliveries, smacking seven boundaries and a six as well.

Ashok Dinda, Rahul Sharma and Angelo Matthews all took one wicket each in Pune’s attempt to try and defend their meagre score of 115.

Pune will be looking to bring all they have when they face off against the Chennai Super Kings on April 14, while the Kings XI Punjab will look to continue their winning streak, when they play against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 15.
