Arthur thinks Ponting can play a crucial part in the Ashes next year despite his lack of form
Australia coach, Mickey Arthur believes former captain Ricky Ponting has proven that he can play in his fifth Ashes series against England next year.
Ponting, who has not been in the best of form in Test cricket after handing the captaincy over to Michael Clarke, was also dropped from the ODI squad during the Commonwealth Bank series, which has led to his international career being in doubt.
However, Arthur has thrown his full support behind Ponting, and feels as if he can still play a vital role in helping Australia bring the Ashes back home.
With critics calling on Ponting to call it a day, Arthur has firmly stated that the former captain will not be going anywhere just yet.
