Hussey is hoping to make a name for himself in Test cricket just like he has in ODIs and T20s
Australian big hitter, David Hussey, has expressed his desire to be part of the country’s elite Test squad in the near future.
Hussey, who is regarded as Australia’s specialist batsman in ODIs and Twenty20 cricket , has stated that he is ready to play Test cricket after having an excellent run of form in the Commonwealth Bank series, which included both India and Sri Lanka, and he followed it up with a brilliant half century against the West Indies.
Speaking exclusively to Gulf News, Hussey said: “Yes, I am glad that I could do well against teams like India and Sri Lanka.”
Hussey, is hoping to get called up to train with the Test team soon, since he has proved that he can be a prolific scorer in the two shorter formats of the game.
“Test cricket is the ultimate dream for any cricketer and hopefully my chance is around the corner. I will do anything to get more runs and press my claims because of the tough competition to get into the team,” he said.
Hussey, who represented Australia in the ODI series against the West Indies, before heading off to play in the IPL, has announced that he is not surprised by how close the Test series between the two nations has been.
“The one-day series was quite a competitive one and the West Indies even had their nose ahead in the first Test before we turned things around,” he said.
If Hussey can earn a spot on the Test squad and perform like he does in the shorter versions of the game, Australia will be able to further bolster their already outstanding middle order batting lineup.
