Former Bangladesh Captain, Mohammad Ashraful, has been axed from the national squad roster, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The BCB, stated that Ashraful, along with other current players, have been removed, in order to decrease to their list of contracted players from 18 to 15.
Ashraful, along with Syed Rasel, Junaid Siddique, Raqibul Hasan, Shahadat Hossain, Naeem Islam and Suhrawadi Shuvo, were released from their national contracts.
Out of the seven players that have been released, Hossain, was the only one who represented Bangladesh in the Asia Cup last month, in which Bangladesh lost to Pakistan in the final by two runs.
The BCB, however, have given new contracts to all-rounder Nassir Hossain, batsmen Nazimuddin and Shuvagata Hom, along with left arm spinner, Elias Sunny.
With the release of seven squad members, and the signing of fresh, young talent, the BCB, are hoping that the national squad will start to climb up the rankings and establish themselves as a dominant team.
