Five Australian seamers are battling against each other to earn a roster spot in the upcoming first Test at Barbados.
Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle, who just landed in the Caribbean, will join teammates, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson and Ben Hilfenhaus, to compete for the three likely seam bowlers positions on the Test squad roster.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Harris, claimed that he was unlikely to be picked because of being behind Siddle, Pattinson and Hilfenhaus for the three likely bowling spots open.
A three-day tour match against the Board President’s XI will give selectors a good opportunity to witness which of the bowlers are still in prime Test form.
Pattinson, Hilfenhaus and Starc, have had the upper hand, since they have played in the recently concluded ODI and Twenty20 International series, but, their opportunities have been limited.
Former West Indian batsman, Brendan Nash, on the other hand, is hoping to be recalled into Test squad once again, after excelling for Jamaica in a regional four-day competition, but, in the meantime, has headed to England to play county cricket for Kent.
With both teams gearing up for the upcoming Test series, fans of both nations, will be keeping a close eye on who makes the cut, and who will have to sit and watch from the sidelines.
