Afridi started to hit fans after his daughter was hurt
Pakistan all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, was involved in a brawl with fans at Karachi airport, after his daughter was hurt.
Afridi, who was returning home after Pakistan’s triumph in the Asia Cup at Bangladesh, started to hit fans, after his daughter, Ajwa, was hurt in a crush of autograph hunters, eye-witnesses and television reporters.
Afridi, who claimed he didn’t mean to lose his temper, said: “There was no security for players and its usual that fans come and seek autographs but this time they were out of control and hurt my daughter on which I lost my temper.”
One fan, Gul Rehman, who was hit several times by Afridi, told media that he understood why Afridi had lost his temper and forgave the all-rounder. “Afridi’s reaction was natural as dozens of fans circled him and hurt his daughter. I still love him and he is just like my brother” he said.
Afridi, was with teammates Younis Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Hafeez when the incident occurred.
Pakistan Captain Misbah-ul-Haq, and the rest of the squad are due to land at Lahore on Saturday morning.
