Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha believes the men in green have what it takes to win both the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 50-over World Cup.
Pakistan last lifted the T20 World Cup trophy in 2009, while their most recent 50-over World Cup triumph came in 1992 under the leadership of legendary skipper Imran Khan.
Confident in the squad’s depth and talent, Salman said he sees no reason why Pakistan cannot lift the World Cup two years in a row.
“My dream is that Pakistan wins the T20 World Cup 2026 and the World Cup 2027,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Salman is currently captaining Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he has scored 55 runs in four matches at an average of 13.75 and a strike-rate of 144.73.
The men in green book their spot in the Super Eights after taking down the Netherlands, United States of America and Namibia in the group stage. Their only loss came against India.
Pakistan will kick off their Super Eights journey against New Zealand on February 21 in Colombo.
