Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf has credited the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for transforming his life and career, saying that without the tournament, he would probably be working a regular job somewhere.
Rauf rose to prominence through the PSL thanks to his blistering pace, which can exceed 150 kph, and his knack for taking key wickets. His impactful performances in the league turned him from a relatively unknown talent into one of Pakistan’s most exciting fast bowlers.
Since then, the 32-year-old has cemented his place in Pakistan’s ODI and T20I squads, becoming a vital part of the national team’s pace attack.
“If the PSL didn’t exist, I would be doing a job somewhere,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rauf recently played in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he finished as the highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 11 matches for the Melbourne Stars at an average of 16.75 and an economy rate of 8.23.
Despite this, he was not selected for the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup, where Pakistan have made it to the Super Eights after defeating the Netherlands, United States of America and Namibia in the group stage. Their only loss came against India.
Pakistan will kick off their Super Eights campaign on February 21 when they go up against New Zealand in Colombo.
