Former Pakistan cricketer Yasir Hameed believes big-hitting batsman Mohammad Haris can turn his “short cameos” into “60-70 runs every match” if he plays sensibly.
Hameed noted that Haris has to bat in the top four and needs to play 20 to 30 balls in order to get himself comfortable at the crease.
If he does that, Hameed is confident the 24-year-old will become a useful asset for the men in green.
“If you’re a top order batsman, at maximum you should be moved to No. 4, not 5 or 6, because then you’re asked to play outside your natural game. Haris is a talented player, and if he bats sensibly in the top order and consumes 20-30 balls, he can turn these short cameos into 60-70 runs every match. It’s just a matter of understanding,” he told PakPassion.
Haris recently featured in the 2025 Asia Cup and scored 131 runs in seven matches, which included a top score of 66, at an average of 21.83 and a strike-rate of 133.67.
Pakistan then took on South Africa in two Tests, three T20Is and three ODIs, but Haris did not take part in any of the games.
The Test series ended as a 1-1 draw, while the men in green came out on top 2-1 in both the T20Is and ODIs.
Next up for Pakistan will be a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka from November 11 to 15.
This will be followed by a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe between November 17 and 29.
