Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif believes Salman Ali Agha cannot be considered a specialist T20I player, even if he scores a century in the format.

Salman, who is Pakistan’s T20I captain, has been among the side’s most consistent performers in recent series.

During the recent three-match series against Australia in Lahore, the 32-year-old accumulated 120 runs, which included a career-best 76, at an average of 40 and a strike-rate of 171.42.

Despite his solid run of form, Latif maintained that Salman’s playing style and approach do not make him an ideal fit for T20Is.

“Even if he scores a century in T20, Salman Ali Agha cannot become a specialist player for T20,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Salman will now captain Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup, with their first match coming against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.
