
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Usman Khan: “Fitness was my initial weakness… As my fitness improves, I find wicketkeeping is becoming much easier”

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Usman Khan has pinpointed fitness as the first weakness he identified in his game.
He shared that his dedication towards improving his conditioning helped transform him into a sharper player.
The 30-year-old has been earning more game time lately and recently featured in Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.
In the two games he played, he scored eight runs at an average of eight and a strike-rate of 50.
“Fitness was my initial weakness… As my fitness improves, I find wicketkeeping is becoming much easier,” Usman was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Karachi native is now playing in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia and has accumulated 71 runs in two games, which includes a career-best 53, at an average of 35.50 and a strike-rate of 142.
The 3rd T20I will take place on February 1 in Lahore.
After the Australia T20Is, Pakistan will feature in the 2026 T20 World Cup, with their first match coming against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.
