Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Atiq-uz-Zaman has admitted he was “completely wrong” in thinking Mike Hesson was a good coach.

Hesson is currently serving as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, a role he took on in May 2025.

Lately, the men in green hosted South Africa on home soil and beat them 2-1 in both the T20Is and ODIs.

They then whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in an ODI series before going on to win a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Despite Pakistan’s positive results, Atiq remains unconvinced that Hesson is the right man to be coaching the national team.

“I thought Mike Hesson was a good coach but I was completely wrong,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan recently concluded their T20I series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla, with the contest ending in a 1-1 draw.
