Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha has made it abundantly clear that he makes all decisions on the field and isn’t being told what to do.

These comments arrive amid growing scrutiny from former players questioning his suitability to captain the T20I team.

During the three-match T20I series against South Africa, Salman could only manage to score 35 runs at an average of 17.50 and a strike-rate of 106.06.

Pakistan’s next T20I assignment was a tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where Salman amassed 79 runs in five matches, which included a career-best 63 not out, at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 125.39.

“I make the decisions on the field and don’t receive messages from the dressing room,” Salman was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Following the T20I tri-series, the 32-year-old took part in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) competition and made 88 runs in four games for the State Bank of Pakistan at an average of 22.

Salman will now captain Pakistan during their three-match T20I tour of Sri Lanka.

All the T20Is will be held in Dambulla from January 7 to 11.
