Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah has hinted that he could retire from cricket, saying he will make a final decision after holding discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Yasir announced that he will not be playing domestic cricket this season, which further fueled speculation that he plans to walk away from the sport.
The 39-year-old used to be Pakistan’s go-to spinner in Test cricket, where he has taken 244 wickets in 48 matches at an average of 31.38.
However, Yasir has not played international cricket since July 2022, while his last domestic match was for Abbottabad Region in March 2025.
“I am not playing domestic cricket this year. God willing, I will finalise my decision after meeting with the PCB,” the Swabi native told ARY News.
With Yasir not having played international cricket for a few years, he didn’t take part in Pakistan’s recent home series against South Africa, ODI series against Sri Lanka, and T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
The men in green will be back in action very soon as they will tour Sri Lanka for three T20Is, with all the matches being held in Dambulla from January 7 to 11.
