Legendary Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has lashed out at T20I captain Salman Ali Agha for not being able to “build an innings.”
Salman recently led the men in green in their T20I series against South Africa and scored 35 runs in three matches at an average of 17.50 and a strike-rate of 106.06.
His next T20I assignment was a tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he struck 79 runs in five games, which included a career-best 63 not out, at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 125.39.
Despite his improved showing in the T20I tri-series, Akhtar believes the Lahore native still falls short when it comes to the basics of constructing an innings.
“Salman Ali Agha can’t build an innings,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Following the T20I tri-series, Salman featured in the President’s Cup Grade-I (One-Day) competition and accumulated 88 runs in four matches for the State Bank of Pakistan at an average of 22.
He will return to take charge of the Pakistan T20I team very soon as the men in green will travel to Sri Lanka for a three-match series in Dambulla from January 7 to 11.
