Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson believes batsman Usman Khan is a “very good prospect” for the team.

Usman hasn’t had the best of starts to his international career as he has only made one half-century in 27 T20Is.

As for his ODI career, he has scored 51 runs in two games at an average of 25.50.

The 30-year-old recently returned to the T20I squad after being dropped and Hesson now has high hopes that he will repay the faith shown in him.

“We have added Usman, who is a very good prospect for us,” he was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.

During Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against South Africa, Usman failed to have much of an impact as he mustered 18 runs at an average of 18 and a strike-rate of 94.73.

The Karachi native fared significantly better in the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, amassing 78 runs in five matches at an average of 78 and a strike-rate of 125.80.

After that, he returned to domestic cricket and took part in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament, where he finished with 293 runs in six games for Sahir Associates, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 58.60.

Usman is now participating in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and has made scores of 18 and 21 in his first two matches for the Dhaka Capitals.

Soon, he will don the Pakistan jersey again as he was selected for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, which will consist of three T20Is that will be played in Dambulla from January 7 to 11.
