Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has advised limited overs captain Babar Azam to start skipping rope as it will help improve his foot movement.

Basit noted that he was told to do this by Zaheer Abbas, who is one of the greatest batsmen Pakistan has ever produced.

Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer over the past few years, but it should be noted that he has been falling short of expectations for many months now.

“He should start skipping ropes. I am giving him this advice which was given to me by Asian Bradman, Zaheer Abbas. It helps in feet movement,” Basit said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.

Azam recently made 131 runs in two Tests against South Africa, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 32.75.

He then proceeded to score 79 runs in three T20Is, which included a top score of 68, at an average of 39.50 and a strike-rate of 117.91.

As for the ODI series, he finished with 45 runs in three matches at an average of 15.

Following the home series against South Africa, Pakistan hosted Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI series and Azam accumulated 165 runs, which included his first international hundred since August 2023, at an average of 82.50.

After this, the 31-year-old was involved in Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe and amassed 127 runs in five matches, which included a top score of 74, at an average of 31.75 and a strike-rate of 112.38.

Currently, Azam is representing the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he has made 71 runs in four games, which includes a top score of 58, at an average of 17.75 and a strike-rate of 110.93.
