Sohaib Maqsood said why can't Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi get it through his head that he can't only rely on yorkers to get wickets

Sohaib Maqsood: “For God’s sake, make some changes! He is still stuck on the same yorker. Why can’t he get it through his head that if yorkers aren’t getting wickets, he should also learn to bowl length deliveries”

Pakistan batsman Sohaib Maqsood has questioned why ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi keeps relying on yorkers to get wickets.

He noted that if yorkers are not working, Afridi should “learn to bowl length deliveries” so that he can be more effective.

Maqsood admitted it is unbelievable that the 25-year-old has not gotten this through his head despite being one of Pakistan’s top bowlers.

“For God’s sake, make some changes! He is still stuck on the same yorker. Why can’t he get it through his head that if yorkers aren’t getting wickets, he should also learn to bowl length deliveries,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Afridi recently played in Pakistan’s two-Test series against South Africa and took five wickets at an average of 28.60.

In the three-match T20I series, he continued to do well, claiming four wickets in two games at an average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 8.87.

Afridi then made his debut as ODI captain and picked up three wickets in three games against South Africa at an average of 38.

He wasn’t able to maintain his momentum during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka as he only got one wicket in two games at an average of 86.

Afridi did turn things around in the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe as he ended up with four wickets in two matches at an average of 13 and an economy rate of 7.42.

Currently, the left-arm fast bowler is representing the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL) and has snapped up two wickets in three matches at an average of 63.50 and an economy rate of 11.90.
