Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad believes the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) need left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir in their team if they want to win the Indian Premier League (IPL).

RCB won the IPL in 2025 and Shehzad feels that Amir can help them do it again by bolstering their bowling attack.

Pakistan players are not allowed to feature in the IPL, but since Amir is set to become a British citizen soon, it would make him eligible to take part in the tournament.

“RCB need a bowler like Amir to fix their bowling woes. They have a good batting unit, but their bowling has always been a problem. If Amir plays for RCB, they will win the title,” Shehzad was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Amir has been involved in numerous T20 leagues since he no longer plays international cricket and has put up strong performances on a consistent basis.

His decision to step away from the Pakistan team means he missed their home series against South Africa, ODI series against Sri Lanka, and the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Amir was recently in action in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament and took eight wickets in five matches for the Quetta Qavalry at an average of 9.50 and an economy rate of 7.60.
