Pakistan left-arm pace bowler Mohammad Amir believes batsman Babar Azam “still has five to seven years left in his career”.

Azam is currently going through a rough time with the bat, but has shown signs of getting back to his best at times.

Recently, the 31-year-old featured in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa and started off with 131 runs in two Tests, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 32.75.

He then proceeded to make his T20I comeback and had a solid showing, making 79 runs in three matches against the Proteas, which included a top score of 68, at an average of 39.50 and a strike-rate of 117.91.

Next up was three ODIs, but Azam was limited to 45 runs at an average of 15.

He fared much better in the ODI series against Sri Lanka as he struck 165 runs in three games, which included his first international hundred since August 2023, at an average of 82.50.

“Babar still has five to seven years left in his career,” Amir said in a video posted by the posted by the Desert Vipers, an International League T20 (ILT20) team, on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam’s most recent assignment for Pakistan was a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he amassed 127 runs in five matches, which included a top score of 74, at an average of 31.75 and a strike-rate of 112.38.
