Former Pakistan head coach Aaqib Javed has praised mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed for his brilliant performances as of late.
Abrar has virtually become Pakistan’s go-to spinner in limited overs cricket and is making the most of the opportunities being given to him.
Recently, he featured in the white-ball series against South Africa and claimed two wickets in two T20Is at an average of 34 and an economy rate of 8.50.
He did phenomenally well in the ODI series that followed, taking seven wickets in two matches at an average of 11.42.
Pakistan then played a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and Abrar continued to impress, picking up three wickets in one game at an average of 13.66.
“We have Abrar Ahmed, who is a mystery spinner and has been performing exceptionally well,” Aaqib was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Most recently, Abrar was in action in Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he finished with six wickets in four matches at an average of 17 and an economy rate of 6.37.
