Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is glad that up-and-coming players like Hasan Nawaz, Salman Mirza, Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat, and Sufiyan Muqeem are getting opportunities.
He noted that the men in green are going through a transitional phase where new faces are coming into the side.
In order to fully assess whether they are ready for international cricket, Sarfaraz wants these newcomers to get enough chances.
“This is a new team taking shape, with new players performing. Youngsters such as Hasan Nawaz, Salman Mirza, Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat, and Sufiyan Muqeem have been given opportunities,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Nawaz, Mirza, Farhan, Talat and Muqeem have all featured in some capacity in Pakistan’s recent assignments and will be looking to lock down spots for themselves going forward.
Recently, the men in green faced South Africa at home and drew the two-Test series 1-1 before defeating the Proteas 2-1 in both the T20Is and ODIs.
Pakistan then whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in an ODI series before going on to win a T20I tri-series that involved Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
