Ex-Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has called for middle order batsman Salman Ali Agha to be promoted up the order in Test cricket.

Basit feels Salman comes in too late, which limits the amount of impact he can have as he often finds himself batting with the tailenders.

During the recent two-Test series against South Africa, the 32-year-old scored 170 runs, which included a top score of 93, at an average of 42.50.

Considering how good he is, Basit wants Salman batting higher up so he can produce big knocks for the men in green.

“What is Salman Agha’s role at number 7? A batter who is performing well is being sent so late,” he said on ARY News as quoted by the Times of Karachi.

After the Test series, Pakistan beat South Africa 2-1 in both the T20Is and ODIs.

They then proceeded to whitewash Sri Lanka 3-0 in an ODI series.

After that, the men in green were involved in a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, which they won after defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
