Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub said every bowler he faces presents a challenge and insisted that India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is no different.
Bumrah is widely regarded as the best fast bowler in the world right now as he has troubled opposition batsmen time and time again with his impeccable line and length.
Even though Bumrah has taken numerous wickets across all three formats, Ayub doesn’t think the 31-year-old is any more difficult than the other bowlers he goes up against.
“We try to play fearless cricket against every team, doesn’t matter if it’s India or whatever. When you play cricket, every bowler is a challenge and same is the case for Jasprit Bumrah, nothing special,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Ahmad Haseeb on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ayub recently featured in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa and started off with 108 runs in three T20Is, which included a top score of 71 not out, at an average of 54 and a strike-rate of 150.
He continued batting well in the three-match ODI series, amassing 169 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 56.33.
The 23-year-old was then in action in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and made 39 runs in two games at an average of 19.50.
Pakistan will now participate in a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 18 to 29.
