
Dewald Brevis: “Babar Azam is a great of the game. It’s a privilege to play against the greats of the game”

South Africa cricketer Dewald Brevis acknowledged it is an honour to play against Pakistan batsman Babar Azam as he is “a great of the game.”
Brevis and Azam went head to head during Pakistan’s recent home series against South Africa.
In the two-Test series, Azam amassed 131 runs, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 32.75.
He then made his T20I comeback and struck 79 runs in three games, which included a top score of 68, at an average of 39.50 and a strike-rate of 117.91.
As for the three-match ODI series, the 31-year-old amassed 45 runs at an average of 15.
“Babar Azam is a great of the game. It’s a privilege to play against the greats of the game,” Brevis was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam is now featuring in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and has accumulated 131 runs in two games, which includes his first century since August 2023, at an average of 131.
Once the ODIs conclude, Pakistan will join a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 18 to 29.
