Legendary Pakistan six-hitter Shahid Afridi said he has high expectations for Hasan Nawaz and hopes the big-hitting batsman doesn’t let him down.
Nawaz is one of the newer faces in the squad and has already had an impact in the middle order as he has produced some stellar performances, which include T20I half-centuries against Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The 23-year-old also smashed an unbeaten 63 in his ODI debut against the West Indies.
Having made an encouraging start to his international career, Afridi hopes Nawaz keeps getting better and recording big scores for the men in green.
“We have not seen any consistent performer for Pakistan from many series. I [have] a lot of expectations from Hasan Nawaz,” he said on Samaa TV programme Zor Ka Jor.
Nawaz was recently in action in the 2025 Asia Cup, but failed to have much of an impact as he scored 17 runs in three games at an average of 5.66 and a strike-rate of 65.38.
The men in green reached the Asia Cup final, but were unable to get past India as they lost the match by five wickets.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a home series against South Africa from October 12 to November 8.
The series will consist of two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
