Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali is frustrated with batsman Babar Azam and ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan, saying they should “just do ads now”.
This comes after both of them failed to impress in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, which the men in green lost 2-1.
Azam scored 56 runs at an average of 18.66, while Rizwan made 69 runs, which included a top score of 53, at an average of 23.
With both of them falling short of expectations, Basit is disappointed that they are not producing the performances that wowed everyone early on in their careers.
“They’re not living up to the performances they produced at the beginning of their careers. Ab inse bas advertisements kara lo (Let them just do ads now),” he said on The Game Plan as quoted by NDTV.
After the West Indies tour, Pakistan won a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan.
They then took part in the 2025 Asia Cup, where they reached the final before suffering a five-wicket defeat at the hands of India.
Next up for Pakistan will be a home series against South Africa, which will comprise two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
The series will be played from October 12 to November 8.
