Pakistan fast bowling icon Wasim Akram believes T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha is a “good captain” as he leads from the front and puts the team first.
Wasim also commended the 31-year-old for his willingness to sacrifice his batting position at number four or five, depending on the situation Pakistan find themselves in.
Under Salman’s leadership, the men in green recently won a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah.
In the five matches he played, Salman scored 109 runs, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 27.25 and a strike-rate of 118.47.
“I think Salman Agha is a good captain. He’s leading from the front. He sacrifices his place at number 4-5, according to the situation. They shouldn’t make too many experiments with this team. They can beat top teams on a regular basis,” Wasim was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Pakistan just recently finished playing in the 2025 Asia Cup, which was held in the UAE.
Salman amassed 72 runs in seven games at an average of 12 and a strike-rate of 80.89.
He also took one wicket at an average of 14 and an economy rate of seven.
Pakistan defeated Oman and the UAE in the group stage, but lost to India as well.
They couldn’t beat their arch-rivals in the Super Four either, but still made it through to the final after taking down Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The men in green faced India in the Asia Cup final and lost by five wickets.
Next up for Pakistan will be a home series against South Africa, which will include two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs that will take place from October 12 to November 8.
