Former Pakistan pacer Tanvir Ahmed has blasted Mike Hesson, calling him a “third-class coach”.
Hesson was appointed as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach in May 2025 and has had a decent start to his tenure.
However, Tanvir was less than impressed with the fact that the men in green lost a T20I series 2-1 when they toured Bangladesh.
The 46-year-old slammed Hesson for not knowing “how to pick a team” and lacking the knowledge to “select a proper playing XI”.
“Mike Hesson is a third-class coach who doesn’t even know how to select a proper playing XI. He doesn’t even know how to pick a team,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by A Sports.
Prior to their tour of Bangladesh, Pakistan faced the same opposition in a T20I series in Lahore and triumphed 3-0.
Following their back-to-back series against Bangladesh, the men in green went to the West Indies and won the T20I series 2-1 but lost the ODIs 2-1.
They then took on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.
Pakistan are now featuring in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being played in the UAE.
Their first match will be against Oman on September 12 in Dubai.
