Pakistan spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan has thanked Allah for giving him another opportunity to play international cricket.
He is also grateful to have been named Pakistan’s T20I vice-captain – a role he was given prior to the limited overs tour of New Zealand.
With his past performances having been underwhelming, especially considering the talent he possesses, the 26-year-old is simply glad to be back in the national team and is determined to make the most of the opportunity that has been given to him.
“I am thankful to Allah for giving me another chance in the team and for the responsibility that comes with it,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Shadab captained Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and picked up 14 wickets in 10 games at an average of 16.57 and an economy rate of 7.90.
Batting-wise, he accumulated 173 runs at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 155.85.
After PSL 10, he took part in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and claimed four wickets at an average of 16.25 and an economy rate of 7.22.
He also made 55 runs at an average of 27.50 and a strike-rate of 157.14.
Pakistan then toured Bangladesh for three T20Is before travelling to the West Indies for a white-ball series. Shadab missed both tours as he underwent shoulder surgery.
The men in green are now facing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which will finish on September 7.
Afterwards, they will feature in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
