Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja is glad to see spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz back in the national team, saying he is a “very dedicated cricketer”.

Nawaz had been out of the Pakistan team for quite some time, but eventually earned a recall and has since been putting up strong performances.

During Pakistan’s three-match T20I tour of Bangladesh, he took three wickets at an average of 10.33 and an economy rate of 5.47.

He also scored 30 runs at an average of 10 and a strike-rate of 136.36.

After that, the 31-year-old featured in Pakistan’s limited overs series against the West Indies and started off by claiming seven wickets in three T20Is at an average of 10 and an economy rate of 6.36.

Batting-wise, he finished with 11 runs at an average of 5.50 and a strike-rate of 78.57.

In the ODI series, Nawaz picked up three wickets in two games at an average of 25.66, while also scoring 28 runs at an average of 28.

“There have been two to three impressive comebacks – I’m especially happy about Mohammad Nawaz because he’s a very dedicated cricketer,” Ramiz said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.

Pakistan are now playing a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will end on September 7.

In three matches, Nawaz has taken four wickets at an average of 17 and an economy rate of 6.80.

He has also made 58 runs at an average of 19.33 and a strike-rate of 138.09.

After the T20I tri-series, the men in green will participate in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
