Pakistan big-hitter Mohammad Haris has confirmed that he is working hard to improve his ability to rotate the strike.

Haris acknowledged he is “known for hitting fours and sixes”, but pointed out the need to develop his game beyond that.

He added that in order to score runs regularly, he has to learn to take singles and doubles instead of solely relying on boundaries.

“Right now, my focus is on improving my defensive technique, which is crucial across all formats. I’m known for hitting fours and sixes, but modern cricket demands a complete game. I’m now putting effort into rotating the strike – working on singles and doubles – to become more consistent,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Recently, Haris was in action for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 247 runs in 10 matches, which included a top score of 87, at an average of 27.44 and a strike-rate of 148.79.

He maintained his momentum in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore as he scored 179 runs, which included a career-best knock of 107 not out, at an average of 89.50 and a strike-rate of 201.12.

As for the tour of Bangladesh, which consisted of three T20Is, Haris didn’t perform as well, finishing with nine runs at an average of three and a strike-rate of 50.

The 24-year-old was then picked for the tour of the West Indies, but failed to have an impact in the three-match T20I series as he mustered 12 runs at an average of six and a strike-rate of 133.33.

Pakistan and the West Indies also played a three-match ODI series in Trinidad, but Haris did not feature in it.

The men in green are now facing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which will end on September 7.

In three matches, Haris has scored 17 runs at an average of 5.66 and a strike-rate of 89.47.

After the T20I tri-series, Pakistan will be involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
