Pakistan batsman Khawaja Nafay said the coaches have advised him to “stay ready as a wicketkeeper” should he get the chance to make his international debut.

Nafay has been working on his wicketkeeping after already establishing his reputation as one of Pakistan’s top batting prospects.

During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), the 23-year-old made 52 runs in two matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which included a top score of 51, at an average of 26 and a strike-rate of 173.33.

“The coaches have told me to work on my wicketkeeping as well. I’ve been advised to stay ready as a wicketkeeper too. I’m preparing myself to play according to all formats,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

After PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore, which they won 3-0.

They then toured Bangladesh for another three-match T20I series, but ended up losing 2-1.

As for their tour of the West Indies, it was mixed results for the men in green since they won the T20Is 2-1 but lost the ODIs 2-1.

Next up for the men in green will be a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will be held from August 29 to September 7.

Following this, Pakistan will take part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
