Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi believes India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is the “best bowler in the world” right now.
Bumrah has been unstoppable with the ball in his hand and has caused mayhem when bowling to opposition batsmen.
The 31-year-old has taken 219 wickets in 48 Tests at an average of 19.82.
He has also featured in 89 ODIs and claimed 149 wickets at an average of 23.55.
As for his T20I career, the Ahmedabad native has picked up 89 wickets in 70 games at an average of 17.74.
“Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in the current time actually. Swing, accuracy, experience, I think recently he is the best bowler in the world,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi recently captained the Lahore Qalandars in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished as the highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.42 and an economy rate of 7.76.
Despite doing well in PSL 10, he was not picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and the T20I tour of Bangladesh.
The 25-year-old ended up making his comeback during Pakistan’s white-ball tour of the West Indies, where he snapped up two wickets in two T20Is at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 7.25.
As for the three-match ODI series that followed, Afridi took four wickets in two games at an average of 21.50.
Pakistan will now feature in a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will be played from August 29 to September 7.
Following this, they will be involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
