Pakistan limited overs head coach Mike Hesson has praised T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, saying he is more interested in winning games for his country than his own stats.
Salman has become an integral part of the national team as he is a brilliant middle order batsman and a handy off-spinner as well.
During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), he amassed 201 runs in nine matches for Islamabad United at an average of 25.12 and a strike-rate of 136.73.
He also picked up two wickets at an average of 33.50 and an economy rate of 8.37.
Following the PSL, he led Pakistan in their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and struck 90 runs, which included a career-best knock of 56, at an average of 45 and a strike-rate of 155.17.
On top of that, he snapped up one wicket at an average of 43 and an economy rate of 10.75.
Pakistan then toured Bangladesh for three T20Is and Salman mustered 24 runs at an average of 12 and a strike-rate of 58.53.
Bowling-wise, he finished with one wicket at an average of 12 and an economy rate of six.
“Selfless is a really good word for Salman Ali Agha. He’s not interested in his own number or stats, he’s interested in trying to win games for Pakistan,” Hesson was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies and claimed a 2-1 win in the T20I series.
In the three matches he played, Salman made 49 runs at an average of 49 and a strike-rate of 113.95.
However, he didn’t have much of an impact with the ball as he went wicketless.
Pakistan and the West Indies are now playing a three-match ODI series, which the men in green lead 1-0 after securing a five-wicket win in the first match.
Salman hit 23 runs and took one wicket in that game.
The 2nd ODI will be held on August 10 in Trinidad.
