Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas confirmed that his “first priority” is to represent his country in international cricket.

Abbas hasn’t been getting regular chances lately as he only made a Test comeback during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa from December 2024 to January 2025.

Prior to that, the 35-year-old’s last Test match came in August 2021.

In that two-Test series against South Africa, Abbas finished with 10 wickets at an average of 24.60. This included career-best figures of 6-54 in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test in Centurion.

Despite being in and out of the national team, Abbas reiterated that playing international cricket continues to be his main goal.

“My first priority is Pakistan,” he told PakPassion.

Abbas wasn’t involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) or Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore. He also missed the tour of Bangladesh as he has been playing for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship in England.

The Sialkot native has claimed 26 wickets in seven matches for Nottinghamshire, which includes two five-wicket hauls, at an average 23.07.

Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.

They won the T20I series 2-1.

The ODI series will get underway on August 9 in Trinidad.
